This scent is inspired from raking fallen, dried maple leaves from the lawn into large piles, which our fathers would burn, making the bonfires of our youth. It is that smell of burning maple leaves that is the heart of our Bonfire cologne.
November in England brings Bonfire Night. Bonfire Night is tied to events that occurred in November in 1605, known as The Gunpowder Plot, an attempt to overthrow the government of King James and the Church of England. It was on the 5th November 1605 that anti hero Guy Fawkes was caught in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament with several barrels of gunpowder. Mr. Fawkes was immediately tried as a traitor and executed in a very public display. To this day school children sing the Guy Fawkes song, Remember, Remember the 5th of November, some believe in efforts to remind the youth that treason is dealt with swiftly and without mercy. For a different view of this Holiday one can watch the recent V for Vendetta.
With that said our version of Bonfire has a decidedly American, less political point of view. Back to the large piles of fallen, dried maple leaves in which our families would burn to start the Bonfires of yesteryear.
